Robert Stonerock – President
Robert F. Stonerock, Jr., M.D. owns a net energy positive home in Orlando, powered by a large grid-tied photovoltaic system. He plans to erase his carbon footprint completely in the near future. He works as a Sub-investigator at Orlando Clinical Research Center.
Craig Williams – Executive Director
Craig Williams has been developing public awareness programs on solar power and energy efficiency for FREA over the past five years. As a property management professional, he is trained in photovoltaic installation by the Florida Solar Energy Center and provides consultation in system design and production estimates to residential and commercial clients. He has a B.S. degree in Communications from the University of Central Florida and lives in a zero-energy home that was achieved with energy efficiency, solar hot water, and photovoltaics.
Jennifer Szaro – Secretary
Jennifer Szaro currently manages renewable energy and distributed generation programs for the Orlando Utilities Commission which include grid-connected photovoltaics, biomass energy, smart grid integration, and electric vehicle use. She is also leading OUC’s efforts to develop and implement a corporate sustainability strategy. She is a LEED accredited professional. Her previous work at the Florida Solar Energy Center as an analyst focused on grid-connected photovoltaics and solar outreach and education.
Samuel Kendall – Treasurer
As a founding director, Samuel Kendall has been FREA’s blogger and news editor for several years. He is a dedicated environmentalist and an active member of the Audubon Society. He drives an alternative-fuel vehicle and has installed solar hot water and energy-efficient, reflective roofing on his home. He is committed to renewable energy advocacy in Florida and furthering FREA’s educational efforts for the transition toward a clean energy economy.
Bill Young
Bill Young has worked as an electrical design engineer on photovoltaics for General Electric and is now a research analyst for the Florida Solar Energy Center. At FSEC, his work focuses on the use of solar energy in disaster situations evaluating stand-alone and grid-tied systems. He is the Coordinator for the Space Coast Clean Cities Coalition developing educational programs on alternative fuel technology, vehicles, and fueling stations.
Pedro Figueroa
Pedro Figueroa has a degree in Accounting and Computer Science from Utica College of Syracuse University and a Masters in Accountancy from the University of South Florida. He has been a licensed CPA since 1997. He became an avid renewable energy advocate in 2006 and installed a solar hot water system and a 5-kilowatt photovoltaic system on his home in Orlando.
Sandra Williams
Sandra Williams is a retired airline captain and former professional skydiver. She is the author of the renewable energy handbook “The Queen of Green Tells All!”. Her company, Energy Alternatives, is a Florida licensed solar contractor. She still has her pilots license and is a certified instructor, but spends her time these days working in the solar industry in Florida advising clients on the best choices for renewable energy systems and doing community outreach on behalf of solar.
